IASI Symposium 2010

“One World, One Work, Creating the Future”
May 7 – 9, 2010, Denver, Colorado
Hyatt Regency Tech Center, 7800 E Tufts Avenue

Mark your calendars for the weekend of May 7-9, 2010, for the third IASI Symposium. It seems impossible that it has been two years since we came together for the last Symposium and the groundbreaking first Fascia Research Congress. Make sure to be there as the international SI community comes together once again for what will be an unforgettable 3 days; jam-packed with education, insight, networking and fun. The work of Dr. Ida Rolf, Structural Integration, has diversified and spread throughout the world in the last 30 years. We come from many different schools and countries, yet we share a common origin. It is indeed a special time when so many treasured and gifted members of the international SI world can share the same space. Together we share One World, One Work, and the privilege and duty to Create our Future. Dr. Rolf said, “Form and function are a unity, two sides of one coin. In order to enhance function, appropriate form must exist or be created.” To enhance the function of our SI community, it requires the appropriate form for our organization. Our assignment is to do this together. Please plan to be a part of this worldwide SI reunion:

“One World, One Work, Creating the Future”

With this Symposium we will be celebrating and exploring some of the many aspects of SI. We are privileged to showcase an exciting lineup of keynote and breakout presenters which include some of the most respected and revered individuals in our profession.

Rosemary Feitis – worked extensively with Dr. Rolf in the early days of Rolfing®. She was Dr. Rolf’s assistant in writing Rolfing, editor of Rolfing and Physical Reality, and co-author of The Endless Web. She received her degree in osteopathic medicine in 1991, and practices a combination of Rolfing® and classical homeopathy in New York City.

Michael Salveson – was trained as a Rolfer ® by Dr. Ida P. Rolf in 1970. In 1972 he assisted Dr. Rolf in training classes and was certified as a Rolfing Instructor by her in 1973. He has been in active practice in the San Francisco Bay Area for 38 years and an Instructor for the Rolf Institute’s Advanced Training for 22 years. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rolf Institute from 1976-1979 and President from 1979 to 1982. He continued Dr. Rolf’s work by co-developing the curriculum of the Rolf Institute’s Advanced Training, in particular, developing techniques to work with the deep fascia of the ligamentous bed and the body’s articular surfaces.

Serge Gracovetsky – a graduate of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 1968 in nuclear physics. and earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia Canada in 1970. Interests lead him to study the analysis of the injury process by military jet pilots during emergency ejection, the study of the human spine, and the study of the reasoning process of low back pain diagnosis. He was a tenured faculty member at Concordia University in Montreal Canada for 27 years. In addition, he founded and controlled four technological companies developing products in the field of measurement of the function of the spine. These companies exploited the concept that the spine is the primary engine driving the pelvis during gait.

Robert Schleip, Ph.D – Rolfer ® for 30 years, and is directing the Fascia Research Laboratory at the University of Ulm in Germany. Co-initiator of the highly successful 1st International Fascia Research Congress at Harvard Medical School in Boston in 2008, and was involved in organizing the 2009 Fascia Research Congress. His pioneering work on fascial tonus regulation was recently covered in a news article in Science magazine He is Research Director of the European Rolfing Asscociation, a Feldenkrais® Teacher, and a long term faculty member of the Rolf Institute® of Structural Integration.

Monica Caspari – Monica became a Rolfer in 1989, joined the Rolf Faculty in 1994 and has been studying with Hubert Godard since 1999. She has taught in Brazil, United States, Australia, Germany and Japan. Her special curiosity is the interface between structure and function – especially how to elicit a new expressivity from the client. Monica’s articles have been published in the journals of the Rolf Institute, the Brazilian Rolfers` Association and in the IASI`s Yearbook. She independently published Mindful Movement, a book on Rolf Movement techniques edited by students under the guidance of Robert Schleip.
